Fans in Lisbon already calling for the Puskas award for Nuno Santos’ incredible rabona
The Sporting CP winger’s masterpiece is one of the goals of the year so far in Europe
The best goals usually come from the craziest improvisations, just as, in one of those fits of genius that football gives us from time to time, Nuno Santos came up with the idea of curling the ball past Boavista to give Sporting Lisbon a 1-0 lead.
The left winger had joined the attack until he stepped on the penalty spot, from where he turned Youseff Chermiti’s fine back pass from the right flank into a work of art.
With a rabona style shot, he hit the ball straight into the top corner.
Opening the scoring in style
The Lisbon giants went on to win the game 3-0 to get back to winning ways and maintain the gap on third-placed Braga.
There could be few better ways to open the scoring than with Nuno Santos‘ goal which is sure to come back onto our screens when the awards ceremonies take place at the end of the year.
